What I miss most…

29th January, 2010 - Posted by KimberlyBurke - 11 Comments

I have been holding on to my vacation glow with both hands determined not to let it slip away. Many people have tried to snatch this from me, but I am please to say they have failed miserably.

In honor of this diligent pursuit, I would love to hear what you miss most now that you are home. For those of you who were unable to join us please share a thought that keeps you going from your last vacation. A story or anecdote would be welcome as well…

Things I miss most now that I am home:P1010062

  1. Breakfast on the balcony with Lyn
  2. Witnessing Traci’s daily cheerfulness
  3. The Laurel and Hardy Karaoke act
  4. Not waiting for a check after each meal
  5. The inspirational camaraderie of my fellow writers
  6. Having a reason to dress up for dinner
  7. The smell of the ocean and the cool breeze
  8. No phone calls, emails or text messages
  9. Getting a chance to use my Spanish, especially when they are being smart and think I do not understand

Can’t wait to hear your input. Happy Friday.

1. I hate to sound like a pansie, but I LOVED the workshops. Miss the ones I didn’t get to.

2. I miss the easy chatter with the editors and visiting authors. No pretenses, no worries.

3. I miss the rocking ship. :)

4. I miss seeing everyone’s face 24/7. I can see us all living in some sprawling sea-side mansion–everyone having a wing and paying for it with our published works. The support and affection just makes you want to write, write, write.

5. Sea lover at heart, I miss the water.

6. I miss the corny jokes and the great story one-liners we tossed at each other.

7. I have to stop here, or I’ll buy another ticket . . .

What a great idea for a post cruise blog!!!

things I miss? being cheerful every day, lol – just kidding. I miss seeing everyone in the hall, or at the dinner table. I miss Kim pointing me in the right direction (I never did catch on to which end was which) I miss the beautiful ocean view, and the sound of the waves against the ship. It was so nice not having to deal with phone or computer stuff – that was an amazing break.
I definitely am looking forward to a week off the grid again!!

Thanks Kim!!

Yes the rocking of the ship. A plus for sleep (slept like a baby) and a minus for eating.

This is a great idea for a blog! I miss:

1) Getting to know people through fascinating conversations over dinner

2) Cruising strangers looking at my badge and asking if I’m a writer

3) The chance to answer–”Yes, I’m a writer!”

So much fun…

Can you believe I lost 3 pounds on the cruise??? I miss:
a) the great Workout room
b) walking 9 flights of stairs from my room to the lido deck
c) strolling along the decks and watching the sun rise

Rosemary, how did you do it? Must have been the workout room. I gained 3 pounds on my last cruise on Independence of the Seas and still haven’t lost it. I miss sitting on a deck chair and watching the deep blue water shwoosh and swell. Getting waited on at dinner. Having places to go after dinner. Shopping in St. Thomas.

Rosemary…you are a brave woman…walking up 9 flights of stairs. Yikes! :)
I, too, miss not having to wait for a check after meals.
The rolling seas and falling asleep with ease moments after settling into bed each night.
The wonderful companionship of all our attendees.

I miss having people waiting on me, doing the dishes, and turning down the bed.

I miss being with everyone in such a nice vacation, relaxed environment.

I miss the workshops. I learned a lot.

I miss hanging out in the Karaoke lounge.

I loved our excursion to the Mayan ruins.
