February Program
Please join Florida Romance Writers on Saturday, February 11, 2012 for our
monthly meeting held at the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Airport, 1825 Griffin Road,
Dania, Florida (I-95 and Griffin Road) for a workshop on editing.   In this
workshop, Harlequin editor Alison Janssen and Berkley author Mary Stanton
discuss the author/editor relationship, and walk through the process of editing.
Alison has edited a short story Mary wrote, and Mary's revision based on
Alison's feedback. Handouts of both versions of the story, plus the editorial
conversation, are included in the course.

The meeting begins at 9:00 a.m. and features a hot buffet breakfast.  Please
email Sharon Hartley (sharonhartley01@bellsouth.net) to make your reservation.
RSVPs must be made by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2012.

 Topics covered include:

  • The different levels of editing and what they mean: Developmental, line
    editing, copy editing and proofreading.
  • How it feels to receive editorial feedback
  • How to tackle revisions, once you have a notion of what needs to be done
